We Don’t Just Serve Scones

CWA Bungendore is a hands-on community hub. Yes, we serve great cuppas and sweet treats, but there’s so much more happening here. From book club, mahjong, and garden club
to art workshops, family support, and local fundraising, our Branch brings people together. We also speak up for Bungendore, advocating for safer streets, stronger services, and better outcomes for our community.

Advocacy in Action

  • Safer Streets — Submitted a detailed report on pedestrian and road safety; continuing to press Council and Transport for NSW for real improvements.

  • Local Policing — Raised concerns with our MLA about reduced police presence.

  • Supporting Education — Sharing our land with Bungendore Pre-school, providing space for their new home alongside our Branch rooms.

Community Contributions

  • Wildcare — Sewed and donated hundreds of Joey Bags
    for injured animals.

  • Dementia Support — Partnered with QPRC to host
    dementia morning teas.

  • Digital Safety — Collaborated with Bungendore Medical Centre
    on online safety workshops.

  • Guides & Scouts — Taught local groups the art of making
    (and serving!) scones.

  • Bungendore Show — Volunteered in setup, stewarding, judging,
    and of course, entering competitions.

  • Community Spaces — Made our rooms available at low or no cost
    to local groups.

Playing It Forward

Fundraising and giving back are at the heart of what we do.
In 2025, our Branch contributed:

  • $2,600 to the CWA NSW Disaster Relief Fund for flood relief.

  • $4,000 to Home in Queanbeyan to support their facilities.

  • $1,250 Education Grants to local students moving from Year 6 to Year 7, helping families offset the costs
    of transition to high school.

At CWA Bungendore Branch, we create connections, advocate for change, and support those who need a hand. Together, we’re building a stronger, more caring community.
