Granny Square Challenge
Jun 6, 2026
Bungendore CWA are pleased to announce the launch of this year's annual Granny Square Challenge. It’s taking place on World Knit in Public Day on the 13th June, where you can find us represented by Teresa and Louise at Phil’s Emporium Op Shop on Butmaroo Street.
Theme: In the spirit of the 100th birthday of Sir David Attenborough, we challenge you to make your squares in the designs of our world: From the colours of the Amazon, the depth of the seas, the beauty that is our coral reefs.
The glorious orange hues of our sunsets, the savannah horizons, the greens and blues of the earth.
The patterns of our animals, the texture of their skins, anything where your mind takes you.
Let your imagination “go wild” , nothing is too crazy!
Instructions • Please keep your squares to 6 inch square or thereabouts • You can use either acrylic or wool, it is your choice. • Please keep a “tail” on your squares. This helps with sewing them later. • There is no set guideline on pattern or colour. • Please drop your completed squares in a small bag, with your name, email and phone number to the CWA rooms at 40 Gibraltar St, no later than then 10th August 2026. There will be a tub on the porch. Winners will be announced on World Granny Square Day on the 15th August.
