At Craft and Chat in April 2026 we had a special guest speaker, Wendy from Angel Gowns Australia.

Angel gowns is a not for profit charity that transforms donated wedding dresses into free, handcrafted burial garments for babies and children who have passed away from miscarriages, stillbirths, and infant deaths. Founded in 2014, it is a volunteer-run organisation whose goal is to ensure families know they are not alone and that their baby or child is loved and cared for by many people throughout Australia and the world.

They receive thousands of wedding dresses donated by brides or salons across the country which are then lovingly handcrafted into tiny Angel Gown garments to honour the life of a baby taken far too soon.  It was quite emotional for members in attendance, but also amazing to see the ranges of garments that are made. They also salvage the tulle from those wedding garments to make tutu skirts for children suffering from a long term illness, undergoing ongoing medical procedures or tests, and children with special needs just to brighten their day.  All gowns are given to funeral homes and hospitals free of charge.

It is the hope that we as a branch can help this organisation by sewing some items annually to give back to this cause.
